What Our Guests Say

Tim

Realist

Didn’t see any monster. Just waves, a rope that looked suspiciously staged, and the captain yelling, ‘He’s camera-shy today!’ Mate, so am I. Waste of sunscreen.

Jacob

Marine Biologist (apparently)

Captain pointed at every ripple saying, ‘There he is!’ After the fourth ripple, I realised he’s just enthusiastic about water. Wouldn’t recommend unless you enjoy disappointment.

Josh

Thrill-seeker turned cynic

Pretty sure King Claw doesn’t exist. Boat engine coughed, captain screamed, crew clapped — great theatre, zero sea monster. I’ve had scarier moments at the buffet.

Luke

Sceptic from Brisbane

The captain said King Claw ate his last tour group. Convenient story, since no one else on board saw anything. He’s definitely making it up — but I admire the commitment.

Stephen

Souvenir collector

Paid for a monster encounter, got a man with binoculars and wild theories. He tried to sell me a T-shirt that says ‘I Believe (Sort Of)’. Cheeky.

Andrew

Engineer

Captain claimed the bubbles were ‘King Claw breathing’. Turned out to be the bilge pump. Two stars for creativity.

Deb

Non-believer

He kept insisting King Claw only appears to ‘those who truly believe’. My mate believed. Still nothing. Captain owes us both an apology and possibly lunch.

Michelle

Unimpressed tourist

Saw no monster, but plenty of drama. At one point, the captain threw a net overboard ‘to lure him in’. It came back with a shoe. Not convinced.

Dwayne

Drenched

The only claw I saw was the captain’s hand trying to fish his hat out of the sea. Starting to think this whole tour’s an elaborate prank.

Mel

100% sceptical

Guaranteed sighting,’ he said. The only thing guaranteed was motion sickness and a tall tale. King Claw’s real name might be ‘Imagination’.

Martin Brody

You're going to need a bigger boat.

T Howell III

2nd worst three hour tour Lovey and I have ever been on.

Sascha C

Door to door salesman

I really wanted this to be a good experience but honestly, I’ve seen better. In my industry everyone talks up their product but I was convinced we’d see a monster… instead I experienced a monstrosity…

David K

Expert commentator

I brought my son on this tour, we both know a lot about cruises, in fact we know a lot, about a lot of things. I have to say (as I already knew would be the case) that this was a disaster from start to finish. What you told me would happen didn’t come true.. my advice to the Sturt Brothers, sell now and get out while you can… a lost cause. If you want a better Sea Monster experience, go to the competition, they are shooting the lights out!

Jemma E

Team manager

Look, what the brand says and what I experienced were not the same. Seriously, these guys need to do their research and have a good think about what they are selling because this is a scam. One star.

David H

Producer

I came for the education experience. What could be more interesting than studying this monster in its natural environment? Watching paint dry is the answer… I certainly learnt something today , something not very good about dodgy tour operators.

Randy G

Rancher

Sturt Bros tours looked like the hometown favourite to me and was my natural choice when it came to booking my Sea Monster tour. Seriously? Four hours and a soggy salad roll later; all we saw were empty promises.

Geoff S

Pilot

When I read about this tour I thought ‘this is something I gotta do’, having done the tour the only thing I gotta do is tell you not to do it. I’m a believer in people coming to work and trying to do the right thing, except in this case. The Sturt Brothers are shonky. I’d give 0 stars if I could.

Erin W

Zoo keeper

The flyer said I’d have a magical day. The only magic I saw was the magic of empty promises and upset children. Have seen better, a lot better.

José

Accountant

How these blokes are making money confounds me. I’ve seen some ordinary businesses in my time but fair dinkum, these guys take the cake. Cooking the books better than cooking the included ‘gourmet lunch’ that’s for damn sure.

Tanya Y

Creative consultant

What these guys need is a swift kick in the a@@, I’ve been wronged and I want my vengeance. 1 star, do better, do a lot better.

Maddie Y

Lawyer

I’m seriously considering my options in terms of litigation. They’ve breached many laws and a class action based on what I can read in these reviews is absolutely in order.

Ruby Y

Dance captain

I didn’t think it was that bad. I think the music could be better. I can’t remember what we were meant to see on the boat but I got some very aesthetic pictures for my socials.

Esther Y

Experience expert

It would be better if the boat went faster. I think it should be a different colour and if the boat travelled in a tube with different lights to give it the illusion of going much faster than it really does it would make a bad thing better. For now, go elsewhere.

Mel Murphy

I’ve spent a bit of time on cruises, one particular one to Love Island was most memorable. What was memorable about this was the changes of plans throughout this journey. How about, know where you want to go and stick to it? Want to see a monster? Tell me we’re going one way and then go another way, then I’ll show you a real monster. A mess, an absolute mess of a day, week, month and year.

Chrissie S

Retail buyer

Look, the experience was ok but it’d be a lot better if they had a custom plush range. I have some ideas – call me!

Gary W

Renovator

I’ve seen some horror story businesses, but this one takes the cake. I could say more, I will say more… the mob running this joint need to go and they need to install some people that have half an idea what they are doing. I’m going to seek a meeting with these guys and fix this mess.
